Thread: distracted driving

    Default distracted driving

Anyone else ever play the mandolin while driving? or is it just me...

I like to take road trips across the country and have been known to drive with the knees while plinking away on the mando while rolling thru the great planes on empty highways with visibility for miles. Helps pass the time while driving through the fly over states.

also a good way to relieve stress in a traffic jam

by great plains I hope you don't mean Kansas. I can't even imagine 75 to 85 mph while playing a mandolin is asking for an accident, I would prefer it not involve anyone I know.

I hope it's just you. Good way to get killed, kill someone else, and mess up a nice mandolin in the process.

What's the problem? He mentions doing it on empty highways with visibility for miles. Just set the cruise control, probably just one knee will do it with power steering. Sounds fun to me.......the only problem I see is the drivers side window being in the way of the peghead, so probably you should roll down the window for safety......

What, like 99.9 percent of the country doesn't text while driving? (those are the cars in front of you weaving back and forth, just to be clear)

I'm not sure what's less believable, what OP posted or that ANYONE thinks this is a good idea.

No worries. European lorry * drivers have been observed doing just anything behind the wheel. This one wrapped himself around a pillar 5 days ago near where I live. News said a switched-on laptop was found in the cabin.

I have done it, too - while the car was parked. Great reflection from the windshield.

I've been hit three times on my motorcycles by drivers who "didn't see me". All very serious, one leaving me crippled for life. So I don't think your funny at all.

As much as a can appreciate anyone's love for the mandolin, playing one while driving is not a good idea, whether on what you call "empty highways" or in a "traffic jam".

You share those roads with me. I ride my motorcycle through those states you refer to as "fly-over". My stress level is not reduced by the number of distracted drivers I encounter.

If you happen to be one of those distracted drivers I encounter, your stress level will spike to previously unimaginable heights.

    Welcome to the forum.

    OP

    One post? Likely a troll.

Man, what you wrote is the one thing ive read on this forum in ten years that outrages me if i think just a bit about it.
    Possibly, the most obscene.

If you really do this, i beg you to stop.

    Wreckless, selfish, ....shall i elaborate?

    Sorry, driving is serious .
    And, so is music.
    So is life.
