I want to look for an excellent vintage mandolin, possibly bowlback, while I am in San Diego, next week. Where should I look?

Nothing aside from Guitar Center... We used to have at least 2 great stores but there's not much these days.

But when are you in San Diego? There are a lot of great jams (which I suppose is a little strange - lots of jams, but few if any folk instrument stores).

In Riverside or San Bernardino area there are no mandolins worth walking in the door to play. Like Nick said, you have to get close to LA. If there were a mandolin store in San Diego I would head there tomorrow!

My mandolin is in the shop to have cracks repaired. This happens a lot. Maybe Ill drive to LA and look for a second mandolin.

Where do I look near LA, Nick? High end, old, A or bowl.

Of course there is. I've seen the commercial.

This runs incessantly on local TV. I have no idea why. We've got just about all this right here.

Mandolin life, now, that's another story. In all-too-short supply, most places.
