    Default Berlin germany bluegrass?

Hello out there! haven't posted in many years and excited to be back. just moved to Berlin from Bend Oregon. yep, a big change

wondering if there are any bluegrass players in the city. mandolin, guitar, fiddle, banjo...would love to meet some players. Interested in trad bluegrass, stanley bros, fiddle tunes etc.

also If by chance there are any mandolin builders in this big city let me know! also love to connect...

    cheers, Brian

I definitely know of a few BG aficionados in Berlin. But as I‘m currently on vacation, I don’t have any adresses handy. Can look them up next week.

There´s the band Bluegrass Breakdown. They should be able to connect you to the Berlin scene. They are local, quite nice (I´ve seen them ages ago) and probably well connected.

Then there is Andreas David. He is a pro banjo player/teacher who fronted an obviously now defunkt Berlin based bluegrass band (Hot String Quintett).

Then there is the German Bluegrass Music Association. They might be of help.

One venue where they have bluegrass at times is the Petruskirche. If I remember right AKUS played there too.

Being in Berlin you should also consider to go to some Czech festivals as the Czech Republic is not too far away (http://www.bacr.cz/english.php).

Way back there was a band called Southern Star that was active in Berlin. They seem to be gone. What I also found was:

    - http://guitarritmics.com (obviously some kind of bluegrass afficionados/teachers)
    - https://www.meetup.com/de-DE/Berlin-...P5A-4-vUm3itNH (jam session group)

About the people behind the last links I know nothing. But I think its worth to check them out or at least try to fish for information.

    Cheers
    Olaf

Or since you are in Germany, learn to play classical mandolin in the German style!

    When in Rome.....
