    Default NMD-Eastman MDA815

    ... mandola, that is.

Just got a NOS 2016 Eastman MDA 815 a week ago, and am loving it! A music store was motivated to get it out the door, and I couldn't say no to the price they offered. The ear broke off the headstock in shipping, but easy to repair. The bridge is tilting forward, so a replacement will go on, but even so, the sound is rich, and it's so easy to play.

Here's a soundclip of a track I just did for the Newbies Social Group - mandola plays rhythm up front, then switches to melody:

BBCEE, Hi! I too bought an 2017 NOS Eastman 805, Varnish/distressed finish, in this case. The tone and low action are so nice! Wow, the sweet sustain and bass are equally great. The 800 series is a high quality mandolin. I have owned Collings, Gibson, National and Weber, and this instrument stacks up well against all three, seriously. I wish you years of happy playing!
