Default Please help! What is this song?

I'm including a link to a wav file in my dropbox.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/i79asov4vt...nTune.wav?dl=0

It is 25.2MB. It is me playing this tune, which just came into my head unbidden but which I am sure I did not write. Probably heard it sometime maybe 30 years ago or something.

This is all I know of it and without the name there is no way for me to find the rest of the music or hear anybody else's interpretation, so I can't do much with it.

I apologize for the quality of both the recording and the musicianship. You'll have to kind of listen between the errors.

    Thanks,
    Rod

I can't ID it but it sounds like it should be in a Ken Burns documentary playing in the background with a voice over.

Sounds so familiar that I felt like I could even hum along to it. Unfortunately, I don't know the name. It feels Irish to me though.

Also, it's beautiful. So if you did write that, way to go! Haha.

Second the familiarity, but I can't put my finger on it yet. There are building blocks of slan le maigh in there, but I keep searching inside my head.

P.S. there is another, nearer shot...

Thanks to everyone. The Ken Burns idea is a good one, since I have watched the Civil War one a bunch of times, although not in a decade or so.

Sounds like an Ostroushko tune to me.

Civil war documentaries (and movies) typically feature two categories of music: fife&drum marches (standing for the action at hand) and Irish ballads (standing for memories of home and family). So Irish is a good guess, but which Irish song is it exactly?
