    Default Northfield Mandolin? EBay.

EBay Listing. I'm not a Northfield expert. I only know of two A style models they make. The Northfield M and the A5 Master Model. This doesn't look like either, nor New, as it is described, is it in either price range. Anyone recognize this Model? I guess there is also an NF-A5. This one looks like it has binding on the front only. The A5 master is front and back binding. The M isn't bound I don't believe and the NF-A5 is bound in Faux Tortoise.

I'd ask the seller for a picture of the label. Pictures are pretty fuzzy, and seller has only 4 eBay feedback, so not sure I'd trust it. Also listed as new. If it is the A5 Special, that's $1000 cheaper than you can buy it from a dealer

That was made for the Grey Fox festival.

Interesting. I wasn't interested in buying. Just didn't look like anything I'd seen before. Didn't look right. Just happened to be looking at Northfield A models and that came up. Was kind of surprised to see one on EBay.

That's in NY correct? Mandolin is located in New York. That's the thing with detail in a listing, or in this case, the lack thereof. A little more explanation in a listing really goes a long way into selling an item as well as removing suspicion.

I believe this was a mandolin made to be either given away or raffled off at the festival one year, so it’s a one off. It may even have been a contest prize. And yes, Grey Fox is held in upstate NY.

As for sparse listings, compared to some this one is an encyclopedia.

They listed as new but described "in like new" condition. My guess with a rating of only 4 they didn't correctly list it. Also maybe never played it if they had won it and now decided to get some $$$ for it. Just my thoughts but anyone interested could easily ask seller for more details.

When I posted this, I asked the seller, what model it was. I just got a message from the seller, saying "This item is no longer available." Except.... the listing is still live. (?). Interesting.

I am just used to giving a really thorough description or a link to such. Now the seller says it is not available (EBay message) but as far as I can tell it is still listed.

Well with so little feedback obviously inexperienced. It's still listed a full 24 hours after I saw it and he/she has 18 watchers. It's pretty much a common courtesy to take a sold item down. Most of those "Best Offer" listings have a default, 30 day listing time. Real knucklehead.
