Anybody catch the beginning? The endpin came out of the Loar and it nearly hit the ground. Didn't have a hand on it--pinned it against his legs. Gave the endpin a quick lick and popped it back in. Whoa! I just tied a lace through my strap around my tailpiece.

I tuned in late and missed that. He did feature a Dave Appollon piece toward the end of the show, which was pretty cool.

Would love to have seen that with the end pin! He is so in touch and in tune with his surroundings it is not wonder he was able to catch it so quickly. Wish too I could have heard the Russian Rag.
When I tuned in he was laying a song that was HEAVILY in a minor key. I tend to turn away from such a dark tone. Is it just me, or has he been tending toward such a sound more?

I have a lace around the tailpiece for that. It hasn't happened yet, but clearly I am well insured!!

Can one replay the video somewhere?

Happened to me within 48 hours of getting my Silverangel. Came from somewhere way colder and dryer than NC. Thankfully, I was playing it and had my left hand engaged when it popped out...both kids and my wife chastised me for the phrase that came out of my mouth...justifiably so...

It’s been years since it happened. I think I put a wrap of masking tape on it and reinserted it, though I may have just stuck it back in, knowing that the humidity here would swell it up. Hasn’t happened since, BUT: I always check the end pin, every time I pick up the Mando, and always have at least one hand on it at all times...

Hesus Christo, would be a shame to lose a Loar that good that way...

Great musicians' birthdays segment too--Wah Wah by George Harrison, a Kurt Cobain song and a Nina Simone song. And a cover of Come Together by the Beatles for the twitter song request.

The whole video is only available live during the show. They sometimes post some clips.

I had a mando take a dive on some flagstone outside when the endpin came out. For some reason I hadn't done the lace around the tailpieces after getting new straps. All fixed now. The Loar would have had at least a broken headstock scroll if he hadn't caught it. Thile was gesturing with both hands and the headstock swung down and the endpin came out. Really lucky to catch it as fast as he did. He didn't seem too distracted by it. Probably the cold/dry of Minnesota did it.

Did it happen during the introduction song when he wasn't playing. On he audio you can hear him shout in the background. I'd imagine almost dropping a Loar would elicit some kind of exclamation.

You can hear him yell whoa or ahh at 1:07 on the recording.

Yep, it was very early in the show. I think that was it.

Wow, first time watching this and I am loving the stream. How often do they do this?

It's usually just from the Fitzgerald Theatre, but sometimes other places too.
