Default Midnight Rider The Brewery Sessions!

Hey all! Dan from Mandolins and Beer here! I started a new feature at @Mandolins and Beer called The Brewery Sessions. I'm starting to travel to Breweries to play live tunes and also highlight some of these beautiful places that make incredible beer! This episode is Midnight Rider by The ABB performed by my band @Theol55s I hope you dig it.

Come on up to Asheville, you could play at a different brewery every day for a month and still miss a few. Nice cover of a great song, thanks.

Patrick. The wife and I will be up at Awendaw March 30-31st. I didn't see your name, or your band's name on the bill. Will you guys be playing around Charleston either of those days? We're actually coming in on March 29th. You playing anywhere local that evening?

Hey there! I was scheduled to play originally with my new band The Ol’55s. However, our bass player is now going to be in San Francisco that weekend and we had to cancel last minute....huge bummer. As of right now I dont have anything on the 29th but I quite often pick up gigs through out the month. Ive got 20 booked for March already and just played 6 this past week! I’ll let you know if something lands on that date though. You may see me out there hanging around and pickin some in the evenings but I’ve got a gig Friday and a double that Saturday.

Growing up as a teen in Florida, I cut my musical teeth on the Brothers. Duane was a truly gifted and inspired player . . . Gregg and Dickey and the others were right there too. Most of their music is incredibly melodic and I've always thought that a lot of their songs would easily cross over to the mandolin. I transcribed Jessica, it's a great one to play on the mandolin . . . and there's a lot of others too. Great job on Midnight Rider Daniel . . . keep 'em coming Brother!

Ages ago my, daughter and me drove down to Macon, GA for a visit. Among the places we toured was Rose Hill Cemetery. Quite old. Opened 1840. The roads going thru there were still only the width to pass a horse drawn carriage. We visited the side by side graves of Duane and Berry. Sorry the the photos are sideways. Wish I knew how to change that. Attachment 165986Attachment 165987

Notice the Borden Milk carton used to replace the missing flower holder at Duane's grave. The site today as shown on line is quite a bit more built up.
*Note; Just saw a video and the area is now fenced in. Gregg is also buried nearby. Looked like right outside the fence.

Sweetwater Brewery is here in ATL... I used to work out of a warehouse 3 or 4 doors down the street. They would give “brewery tours” on Tuesdays many many years ago, which meant you paid $5, got a beer glass and then got way too many refills to be able to make it home without standing around for a while or taking a nap in the car... that was many years before kids,... they may still do it though.
