Thread: Calton case for vintage F2 or 4

Default Calton case for vintage F2 or 4

Just wondering if anyone that has a teens or twenties Gibson F2 or 4 has ever tried to fit it into a Calton for a modern F5. A friend has one but I would have to pay to ship it plus a modest payment to him. Wanted to see if anyone has attempted this or do you just bite the bullet and custom order one for the shorter neck?

    Thanks

Can you get measurements from them? I only have 1 Cal which came with the A50 luthier altered as a 4 string electric..

30" long, inside to rubber edges 16" from tail end to neck cradle/storage box which is 5" wide, 9" from opposite end...

I have a 1917 F4 in what I believe is an F5 Canadian Calton. (I bought it used.) It has a small amount of clearance from the padded interior of the case for both sides of the headstock (maybe 1/8"). I have seen posts over the years where others say that is not enough clearance, but it seems fine for me, particularly given that I don't plan to check it on an airplane any time soon.

    Does that help?
