    Default Pure Aesthetic Question

A matter of one's own eye, in terms of tuning buttons, I'm wondering what the thoughts on out there about something. On a traditional sunburst mando, with quality grained ivoroid binding, do you prefer matching ivoroid tuning buttons -- or instead ebony ones? Assume silver hardware otherwise.

I personally tend to favor the ebony ones, but I've owned a few mandos both ways!

    Happy plucking!

Get both sets of buttons, and switch when the mood strikes you. Like a hat or jewelry.

I like the binding and buttons to match. Light with light- dark with dark. It's like shoes and belts to me.

If the mandolin is unbound I like dark buttons.

Or better yet just get a mandolin decked out each way, you can always use 2mandolins, or 3 or 4 or.............

I just put a set of Rubner brushed brass w/ebony buttons on my Yellowstone and I like that look, with the darker burst. My new two point will have brushed nickle with ivory buttons, just for a different look. It will have a lighter single color, to be chosen at a later date. T

I don't much care what color the tuners are. I don't even much care what color a mando is.

I must admit I love how my orange Red Line looks. Highly unorthodox. But I have no idea what color the tuners are, and I play it almost every day.

Agree. As my blind friend says, " I don't card how it looks, I listen for the sound".
