I'd leave the last two clamps in place while inserting glue close to the glued region so you won't accidentally open already glued parts.

This is a good advise. I will follow that before going on the adjacent section.

I complete the repair, string it up and tune it to pitch. It plays, sounds better than the previous I got (a 1/2 size).
But ... I do not play that well, only practice not more than 50 hours total on cello.
