Thread: Tailpiece replacement

    Default Tailpiece replacement

Hi All, I am not a luthier/builder, but am an owner of a Rigel A+ Deluxe purchased back in the early 2000s. Of course, Rigel is now out of business. My tailpiece is broken (tooth broke off) and I am in need of a replacement. I have contacted (phone, email, and cell phone) Pete Langdell (former Rigel owner), but unfortunately have gotten no reply. I would like to replace the tailpiece and am wondering if anyone knows of any other options I may have if a bona-fide Rigel replacement cannot be had. Thanks very much, Eric Hanson

While the holes may not line up any tailpiece can be used. You may have to fill and redrill the holes.

No on a Rigel. Only a Rigel tailpiece will work, and Pete Langdell, as far as I know, is the only source for new ones.

I'm pretty sure I once purchased a replacement Rigel tailpiece directly from Gold Tone. I don't know whether it's currently possible to do that, but you could probably find out in one phone call.

Goldtone has always been pretty good with stocking parts. There was a time when Janet Davis Music sold darn near every part for all of their instruments.
