Any experience with using a clip on mic with your mandola?
Brands, type of clip, where has been the best spot to aim the mic?

Does your mandola have an oval hole or F-holes? It makes a difference with mic placement; F-holes are easier because you can clip a mini condenser mic aimed at the bottom of the bass-side F-hole, away from your picking hand.

Here's how I use a DPA 4099 mic on my Weber octave mandolin. Not a mandola but I use the same position with my mandolin and OM, and I'm sure it would work fine on an F-hole mandola:

If it's an oval-hole mandola, maybe someone can chip in with advice.

Yes, F holes. Looks like the DPA 4099 would work.
    Thanks very much.

Generally you adapt a Lavaliere mic ..

that's the big market they fill .worn on all those TV talk shows rather than a boom mic overhead,
    just off camera..

the DPA made my dola come alive. Awesome. Used it on my F5 at an open mic for the first time too. Wonderful
