Thread: Replacement tuning post for vintage Handel tuners.

Default Replacement tuning post for vintage Handel tuners.

I have a set of Handel tuners and am looking to replace one of the tuning posts. It's slightly longer than the others and the string hole is drilled at the bottom which is odd. Any idea how to go about finding one to match the other sizes? Thank you very much!

You may have to buy a vintage set that has the same posts and use the post off it?

Why nor get some pictures of the tuners off the mandolin and see if someone can match the post. If you go out and search eBay using the keywords mandolin tuners then search again using mandolin tuning you'll turn up a guy that has auctions for tuner pieces. You might get lucky.

You might have a hard time finding that.
You might consider modifying the one you have to match. I would ignore the hole at the bottom of the post. Or you could have one made.
I have seen at least two or three variations of the posts on these old tuners. Pictures of what you're looking for are advisable.

If you can't find one that will work, the one you have can be cut off so it is the same length and a hole drilled in the top part. Length is only part of the equation, the thread size for mounting can vary also.
