    Default 2018 Winter NAMM Show

We're NAMM bound tomorrow. The actual trade show starts Thursday so we'll be there meeting with our friends from Collings, Weber, Eastman, Gold Tone, Schertler, D'Addario, Hal Leonard Publishers and more. Gnarly street taco night at a total dive with the Northfield crew is rumored to be in the cards for the third year in a row.

We've seen a few private announcements about new products but will wait until we add pictures and tell a more complete story.

Ted Eschliman usually posts a few pictures as well so maybe we can get them all together within this thread.

Posting this thread now but unlikely to be much content until later in the day Thursday but wanted to reserve something in case anyone wishes to comment.

No booth. The show is really for manufacturers, mostly. I'm just there as a member with a press pass networking.

LA is taco truck heaven, but beware, and I can eat whole jalapenos, some of the better trucks have salsa with a distinctive habanero vibe. Eater beware. There is a truck on York in Highland Park that will have you blasting off. Fortunately, beer joints abound.

Glad you're there, we'll appreciate the news...

I'd be there too (had a couple of guest tickets offered), but we have a gig this weekend.

Lots of eye candy, but my wife and I both say our already compromised hearing is thankful to not be there. Bring your hearing protection!

Left 4” of Nebraska snow a day earlier to acclimate and rest up before the grueling 4 days of show ahead. Rough job, but someone has to do it.

    Ted,

I think I've stayed at that same Motel 6 before. I recognize the hot tub and swimming pool! Hope you're not staying in the "honeymoon" room with the king size, heart-shaped bed and mirrors on all the walls and ceiling...

Maybe a dumb question, but how does a regular guy/gal get tickets to NAMM? Or is this even possible? Would love to attend one of these years.

Entry requires membership but members can extend a few free badges to individuals technically assumed to be business associates. Of course this is widely abused. But just showing up and trying to get probably isn't going to work. Best to ask someone that is going if they can get in on that person or business' membership which typically means requesting a badge in advance. They check driver's licenses against badges in case anyone thinks of handing off a badge.

I'm always so jealous of the trade show and sheer amount of workshops for my friends across the pond. One day I'll arrange a visit around a festival, workshop and if not an expo then I'll at least tour the top stores.

New on the agenda for the day: meeting up with some of the Ellis/Pava/Precision Pearl gang who are at show but not officially displaying their wares. Tom stayed in Austin and is holding down the business--he's been to more of these than I'll ever attend. Calton is here as well, first time I can recall them being at the Anaheim Show unless I missed them last year.

Later today get to see the new mystery case folks are talking about over on one of the Northfield discussions. The manufacturer is at the show.

The last year I was selling instruments heavy on eBay they offered me the opportunity to attend. I have no idea if they still do that.

I don't know, but it's similar in size and shape to their alto sax case, built with the same materials:

Converted to USD, that one is about $215 -- totally awesome, in my opinion.

I am extremely excited about these. I’m going to have to run to Marshal Michigan in the next few weeks to check them out.

Shipping, taxes and duties? That’s the issue with having these made overseas. We will have to see what the final cost is going to be.
