Lowest price I’ve seen on this 3 unit stand. Have one for guitars at church. Haven’t checked if the adjustment goes down low enuff for mandos tho. Not sure about this other brand. More legs and more money

I tend to hate triple stands , I have seen many guitars fall because the stand wasn't right and only one guitar on it.
But I do use one sometimes with my mandolins since they are so much lighter you don't have that problem, I have used both the Hercules and on stage they both were fine.

I use the Hercules triple stand with a guitar, dobro, and mandolin and it is extremely stable and has never come close to tipping over.

Hey Ray and mandowillie, just looking at it I cant tell if you can have different heights on the hanger or the body brace for different sized instruments at the same time. I looks like they are all connected together on that ring ?

No matter where I go, there I am...Unless I'm running a little late.
Hi Astro - the tripple clamp at the top moves up and down as one. There is a "spider" on the main shaft which also moves up and down; within limits, as one, against which the instrument bodies are supposed to rest. As I said "with care" you can adjust the stand so that it will accommodate both guitars and mandolins at the same time. Stability is increased by each instrument hanging directly over one of the tripod legs. So as two accommodate two sizes of instrument I have to set mine at its lowest practical position; i.e. So that the guitar just clears the leg.
I normally gig with a '91 Santa Cruz "Tony Rice" and that isn't a particularly light-weight instrument. Stability has never been a problem. Those people with MAS/GAS should try this one - http://www.herculesstands.co.uk/p/6-...em-yokes?pp=24 !
Thanks for the input and reviews about the Hercules stand, I am about to order one.
Is the neck clamp suitable for a variety of mandolin necks? Say, the typical F5 Loar style or a very narrow Snakehead such as on an A4 or A2z?
Thanks!
Mark Lynch
Thanks for the photo mandowilli, it looks good and will certainly fit an F5, have you ever tried an A Style?
I posed the question to Hercules this morning and received this reply, I will direct the customer relations rep to this thread for their information.
Hi Mr. Lynch,
That stand will only hold necks with widths from 1.58”-1.89”. It won’t work on most if not all violins and mandolins. We have a violin stand. The number is DS571BB but for the mandolin the only stand we are going to have that works is GS303B Folk instrument stand that does not feature the autograb yoke. Please let us know if you need any additional information.
Sincerely,

clamp types , on that use such as a weighted microphone stand , can be bought in 3's.
& there are doughnut sandbags that can ballast a folding mic stand, , to resist knocking over..

The width between the "autogrip" jaws is a shade under 2 inches (accuracy is difficult because the padding depresses) and I've yet to find an instrument which doesn't fit. I don't, however, have a fiddle to try it with and my mandostrat rests on the treble side head wood and one of the tuners so you might want to be careful if your "axe" has an asymeyric head.

Here is the updated stand now that it has all three of my Kentucky Mandolin's
Its a great stand very sturdy, I did have to do a little modifications as it would not go low enough for the A-Style. I took the top adjustable rod and cut about 4 inches off of it. I will still go all the way up but that's as far down as it will go

I have one of the Hercules stands also. I should say HAD. Some of the plastic parts melted on me and I'm not sure why. It's been in my basement music room so it hasn't been exposed to extreme heat. I'm sure it can't be typical.
You can't see your future in a rear view mirror.
Wesley, I would recommend contacting Brent at Hercules with your concerns. He has been very responsive with my questions and would probably like your feedback. His contact info is in reply #11 above.
Here is a photo with guitar, mandola and mandolin mounted in the stand. I did rotate the clamp 60 degrees so that the guitar now hangs between two of the legs, this was needed in order for the lower rest to hit the back of all three instruments. The stand is slightly less stable in this orientation but still plenty solid.

Just ordered a Hercules Triple yesterday. Amazon has them discounted to $57.96 (or somewhere in that range). Woodwind and Brass has them for that price as well, but require you to sign up for their rewards program to get free shipping, and I really dont need anymore emails ; we have a Prime account.
Just an friendly public service announcement, NFI, yada yada yada...

I will also mention that I originally purchased my triple stand 10 years ago and last year the locking device on one of the arms failed. I contacted Hercules support and they requested a picture of the failure and shipped me a brand new stand free of charge.
