    Hi everyone,

I hope this is okay to post here, I'm trying to sell a KM-2000 and need some information. Is the truss rod cover seen on the attached image original or replacement? All the pictures I've seen so far of KM-2000's have black covers. Also did they originally come with a pickguard?

No the TRC isn't the original one but still a very nice mandolin!

Yeah, I figured since it looked so unusual. Anybody know about the pickguard?

In 1992 I owned a fine KM-2000. And I'm quite sure it came with a small pickguard, which was glued to the side of the fingerboard. There should be traces visible. That trc is certainly not original.
The tuner knobs may have originally been from pearloid. Those Gotoh knobs were prone to crackle off at some point.

Great, thanks! It didn't even occur to me that the pickguard could have been glued on. It came with 5 spare pearloid knobs so those could be the originals..

Very interested in the Dawg but would like it local, like the states. I have herd stories about instruments getting caught up in customs. Trevor at Acoustic Music Co. doesn't like to ship through US customs that counts his dawg out. Don't blame him.. That being said any locals need funding for their kids college and want to sell their KM-Dawg? Just wondering...

Nice! The Kentucky Master models old and new are quite good. I've got a really good KM-1000 (Korea) that is a great stage instrument, as well as a recent KM-1500 for recording and whatever else.

Funny thing is I had the Dawg bug and settled for a km1500 last night coming from Alaska. Needless to say I have a Dawg coming from Winter Park Florida too. How am I going to explain this one to my wife? Anyone looking for a KM-1500

Just be home when they arrive so she doesn't see 2 packages. Each time you play one of them, say how much you like your new mandolin, but don't let on that there are 2 different ones. Maybe she'll just not notice.

I don't know how you are going to explain it, but I would say keep them both. The KM-1500 is very nice, very nice. Never played the Km-DAWG but that is probably sweet too. Great mandos for the price.

On the Dawg subject I am trying to document all 48 Dawgs. I have started Kentucky Dawg Mandolin Registry on FB. Also interested in the KM-1500. If you have one I would love to document it. Also anything Dawg related. I know a couple of you have more than one:0 I also have look at Scott Zimmermans articles. I am going to reach out to him too.

A while ago there was another thread on collecting Dawg (+) data: httpwww.mandolincafe.com/forum/threads/98838-Early-Kentucky-Mandolin-Owners!-Pre-1991-Serial-Number-Data-Base?highlight=Dawg+A

I used to own a fine KH-Dawg, #8310.38, which was originally sold in München ("Munich")/Germany and came in a tan Superior case with yellow lining. The original Gotoh pearloid tuner buttons crumbled to pieces and are replaced. Hope that helps.

I don't have pics, but could ask my friend, who now owns this mandola, to take and send some.

This thread is a few months old so don't know if the OP ever found one. I'd strongly suggest placing a Want ad in the Classifieds if you're looking for one. I know where several of these reside and I'm 99% sure at least one or more of them might be for sale, and I know one of the sellers is out here daily looking.

It looks like the OP has sold the one he bought at the beginning of this thread.

For those documenting Dawg mandolins, is there any interest in adding Dawg mandolas? I have one and would be glad to contribute - who's collecting info and where/how do I post?
