One of the coolest things I've seen
Some time ago, my friend Dan went to Agnone, Italy as part of a church group to purchase a bell for his church. The group went to see the bell actually being made by the Marinelli family who have been making bells for over 900 years! While there, my friend got acquainted with the family. He took his mandolin with him on the trip and played a little for the family.
A few months ago, some of the Marinellis came to America to deliver and install the bell, and stayed with Dan while they were here.
Yesterday, Dan called me, very excited about a package he had just received. He said it weighed about 20 lbs. When he opened it, this is what he found inside. 25 year old Ettore Marinelli had created this bronze sculpture based on a photo he took of Dan holding his mandolin. Dan had no idea that Ettore was making this. In my opinion, that is one very cool gift!
