I haven't seen this before, hosted by the great Phil Cunningham. Thanks for posting! Apparently there are three parts and the one linked above is the second one. The first one is here, watch it before the one linked above for the background before the migration to America:
I don't think the third past is on YouTube yet, but someone post a link if it is.
Great stuff, Caleb... I watched both parts 1 & 2... if I had more juice in my phone I’d watch part 3... very enjoyable and interesting stuff

For those in the UK, the three programmes, were first shown by the British Broadcorping Castration (presumably one of the regional variations) starting on 6 April 2017 and are still available on the iPlayer but not downloadable.
And most enjoyable they were too, Ray. Phil traced the very strong links and influence that the Ulster Scots migrants had on the music of the Appalachians and other areas of the US. They were very strongly Protestant in their religious beliefs and there are strong influences not only from the lowland and south-west counties of Scotland (where the majority of their descendants had gone to Ulster from in the first two decades of the 17th century) but from the Western Isles where the Gaelic hymns originated with all the beautiful harmonies this form of music created. A very well delivered and produced set of programmes indeed.

Spencer,
I'm watching them on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0F0k_vMAns.

I'm intending to watch them when I get chance John. I don't remember them being broadcast. Were they originally on Alba?
Ray, they were on BBC2 Scotland, here’s a link to the programme page http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08lnlhz
Not sure if the link will work outside the UK?
They were on BBC2 back in April 2017, Ray.

Must have missed them. I'll fire the old iPlayer up.
Edit - Just watched the first episode. The mysterious Phill Cunningham OM/bouzuki puts in an appearance; I wish I could hear it. On one of the latter incarnations of the Transatlantic Sessions, it spent almost the whole series sat on a stand, in front of the piano, without ever being played. For it's sympathetic overtones perhaps?

Unfortunately the BBC iPlayer doesn't work in the US... only the first 2 episodes are available on Youtube; I enjoyed them immensely and shared them with several friends, but can't find a means to watch the 3rd installment here in the US.
Bummer.

You do realise that we in the UK are expected to pay a license fee in order to watch such things? (The BBC isn't funded by advertisers [yet!])
