Anybody know of any bluegrass jams that happen regularly in the Richmond, VA area?
Yes, There are several. I used to keep a website that listed them but it got hacked a few years back and I just took it off line. Now the best way to keep up with upcoming jams is to get on a email list that goes out once a week from Ric Bergstrom. You can email him at ricbergstrom at his gmail account and ask to be added to the group. Once added to his group you will get the emails.
Hopefully one day I will get my website back up and start updating it regularly but until that time emailing Ric is your best bet. If you let me know what side of town you are on or what nights are best for you I could give you what I know. Tonight on Third Thursdays is Camp Hanover for example out North East of the City at 7pm. Second Thursdays there is a jam that includes BG at Dory Park out east of Richmond. There are also some weekly jams at local cafe's, breweries, etc.
Get to know Ric! Also there are regular old-time and Celtic jams. Ric doesn't publish those.
I'm gray, skinny and very tall. Say hi if you see me!

Thank you. I live in the Chesterfield County Courthouse area. I saw in Style Weekly that there is a Bluegrass Jam on Tuesday nights at a brewery in town. There used to be one at a church in South Richmond, but I can't find info on that. I'll email Ric as you mentioned.
F-D, I am thin, tall and mostly gray as well. Hope to see you around.
Hi MM,
Which brewery?

Garden Grove Brewery on west Cary St. Tuesday 7-10 according to their website. I have not yet been there.
okay, yes, I've been there. Tuesdays (second and fourth) there are also jams at Jahnke Road Baptist Church (second) and Rockwood Park Nature Center (old-time only, fourth). At the Jahnke Road jam various Sunday School rooms are used for different jams.

The Jahnke Road Baptist Church one...is that the second Tuesday? and what time?
Yes, it's the second Tuesday and it runs from 7 until 10, but really ends about 9.
Also, I think the jam at Rockwood Park is on. It may be a circus though! I think the jammers are making a recording for the rec center to offer? Not sure, but the tunes will all be standard fiddle tunes in A, G, or D.
Also forgot to mention the third Wednesday is an old-time jam at Legend's Brewery. That jam has been going on for decades! Dude on fiddle is the most-recognized old-time fiddler in the State/region. No joke they play cool tunes.

Just wanted to note the Jahnke Rd jam mentioned in this thread has closed after a couple of decades.
