I don't think that I've noticed any blacktops from this period where the rosette rings were oversprayed with pigment and not masked or scraped clean. Maybe someone was in a hurry?

Maybe they had to get a black topped A1 out fast. That's kind of amazing if it's original. Price isn't bad either.

The headstock looks a bit rough, and wouldn't have the Gibson on it if it was an A1? I'm thinking it's a re sprayed top.

Fylde Touchstone Walnut Mandolin.
Gibson Alrite Model D.
I'm thinking like g7mof. At least they put the balloon in the sound hole!
In that light, it may be $500 too high?

Same thought here. There's clearly been significant pick wear since the pickguard was removed and that's been blackened in some way to disguise it.
It looks almost identical to my A1 which has a '23 FON and a '24 shipping date; although mine has "The Gibson" screen printed on the head and '25 style tuners.
It appears to me that the mandolin was originally Sheraton brown.
A black back with brown sides is not consistent with any factory original Gibson mandolin I have seen. It's strange how at different angles, different areas of the top appear brown.
Even though the pictures are grainy, I've seen enough.
