    Default LoarLM590MS/500VS

Hey I'm a guitar player and I'm searching for a good beginner mandoline. I already asked about the difference between 500-VS and 220-VS.

During my further research I found the LM-590 MS, slightly more expansive than the 500 VS. Is there a big difference between sound and workmanship (quality) in your opinion ?

    Thank you advance

All The Loar models are going to be similar in terms of quality. Fit and finish will be rough to decent and they will require a complete setup to be playable. Higher end models will likely sound better. If you don't have the opportunity to play before buying, choose the model that fits your eye and budget.

You can choose between the 500 and 590 based on your personal preference for aesthetics. They are by and large the same mandolin. While we know that finish and even the fingerboard (to a lessor degree) can have a bearing on tone, in this case, they are close enough that it doesn't seem to matter.

I personally have a slight preference for the 590, but that is just me.

Both would make a great beginner mandolin. Especially if the instrument has been set up right for ease of play.

The two models will probably sound fairly similar. One is glossy, scooped fret board extension, and has a nice inlay. The other is a bit more simple with a satin finish, no finger board extension, and no inlay.

What do like as far as looks go in your guitars? That might be your answer.

A quick search and I think I would get this one

Includes a "pro set up" and case. (Nfi)
