Thread: New Mandolin

    Default New Mandolin

So guitar Center sent me a 1200.00 credit card. What is a good Mandolin in that price range for a F style Bluegrass Mandolin?

I would agree with the Eastman 815V mentioned above.
New the only thing I would look at would be the Loar 700, not sure if they have any discount or not on those?

You could put the $1200.00 towards this. Seems that I have only been able to search guitar center within 500 miles of any zip code. I put in Nashville.

Harley. What is it one has to do to get a $1200.00 credit card from guitar center? A contest of some sort? I'm feeling lucky.

Kentucky KM-1050 is going for $1522.82
Coupon code SAVENOW knocks $100 off bringing it down to $1422.82
If you have the extra $222.82 to kick in, that's what I'd go for.

I'd get this used Benney and have a bit left over for some strings and picks. I know it's not an F style but that one seems like it has a lot of mando mojo for the money.

They are nice. Radiused board. Great sound. Master model. Scratch the F-9 Harley!

I don't know much about Benney Mandolins. I do know one was listed at Reverb for $285.00 plus free shipping in May of this year. No case, but an A that looks very similar to this one. Not too sure how good a deal 900 bucks would be when there's an Eastman and a Kentucky close to $1200.00. $300.00 is a lot of strings and picks.

If you're open to an A model, The KM-950 would be $1100 with the coupon.

Enough left over to get a case too.

For the difference in the money? I'd take the KM-1050 any day with that price differential. I've owned an F-9 that I bought much cheaper than the one listed. Even at a bargain price I just didn't see it as any kind of Bluegrass monster. Nice sound and all, but nothing that would make me pay $1000.00 more than a KM-1050.

Very much not set up at GC. Sometimes not even tuned. This is why I might consider something used.

I agree. GC isn't exactly a place that would set up a mandolin.

Hmmmm... he didn't say he got a gift card. He said GC sent him a credit card. I guess he wants to max it out?

credit cards from them are high interest . unless you get one of their 12 month deals. that's how I bought a Gibson RB-250 banjo. take the price & divide by 12 & then pay it off in 11 months just to be on the safe side. thank God one of us can read.

For those interested: GC Credit Cards.

If they have what you want—it is GC—and you can pay it off within 12 months (or 48 for select items) then you are fine.
