Been emailing with Ken Ratcliff; he currently has his Silverangel Econo A's for $1350 but said he may raise the price… sure wish I had the funds now!

Sounds good Soliver....I've been following this thread for arch top oval holes, is the Silverangel Econo A an oval hole?

I can't afford it right now, but wish I could. I asked and he said you could order with either Oval or FF holes…. I hope to find out what he's raising the price to.

I'll be curious to see how you like the Eastman oval. I am a long time guitar player who took up mandolin about a year ago. I really wanted a vintage Gibson oval and found a super sweet one in a shop that was everything I wanted in a mando vibe and tone wise but out of my price range. I used that as a yardstick and tried out a bunch of different mandos comparing sound/vibe. I ended up with an Eastman 504. It was the closest for me and I've been quite satisfied. I still want a vintage Gibson and will probably snag one someday. Keep us posted.

Oh, NFI here, but if I was in the market, in the OP's price range, I'd be all over this one - Weber Bridger for $1350:

Thanks guys, these are all great looking instruments, but I’m nowhere near able to buy right now. I have about 1/10 of the money right now, Lol!

I was hoping to take a long lunch one day this week and go check out an Eastman but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen until possibly after Christmas at the earliest. I’d love to try for something even nicer... we’ll see how it goes. I’m not sure how patient I can be setting money aside though

By the way, Ken Ratcliff told me that the current price for his Silverangel Econo’s is $1350, but he will be raising them to $1750 after some time... he didn’t say when that would be however..

My Silverangel is an f hole, but with it's redwood top and X bracing, it has a toe in the oval hole world. An oval hole SA would sound wonderful I'm sure.

I would look up Pomeroy. His oval holes look very fine. He has one for sale for 1800 on his site.
