Default CBS 60 minutes program on Isle of Eigg 26th Nov

    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/an-isla...ee-to-believe/

I'm not sure anyone in the UK will be able to see this, but for any of my friends in the US you should watch this on Sunday night 26th Nov. They filmed it back in June during the celebrations for the 20th anniversary of their island buyout, and it will probably include scenes from the ceilidh dance at which I was playing. It will be interesting viewing. Eigg is a remarkable place.

David - In the past,i've spent a LOT of time up in Scotland,a place that i dearly love !. However,i've never managed to get to the Scottish Isles. You might have seen a recent UK TV series on the ' Western Isles' - i simply sat watching, wishing that i could move up there - 100% my kind of places !.

Maybe somebody will put this prog. on YouTube ?,

Wow! What a beautiful area. I'll try to catch it tomorrow. Taking my family to Scotland/Ireland next summer. We haven't planned all the stops yet, This might have to be one!

So, were you the guy grinning and holding the mandolin above his head while the piper played?

They said that party finally ended around 8 am. I guess on a small, remote island, you all can make an impromptu decision to just take the next day off? Looked like a gorgeous place, filled with interesting characters.

I watched. Thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed it. I figure David was the guy holding a bouzouki and cheering the crowd on at the chealdh (or however it is spelled). Or maybe he was trying to flag down the maid behind the bar for another pint.

    Hi,

The band with the pipes and the bouzouki are called Diamh (pronounced Dive) who were on after us.
I was playing with the Ceilidh band which started the night off, so the dancing which you see is to us. I am standing far right playing a tenor banjo (off camera in most of the shots featuring fiddle, accordion etc) but you get a look at me briefly at about 6.08 and you can hear the banjo during the dancing.
It was a good going dance as you can see.

    Nicely done programme I thought.

Saw it. Good piece! I'd imagine living there would be somewhere between the tv shows "Northern Exposure" and "Doc Martin"
