Okay, okay, okay. So I just made an offer on a used one. If the seller bites, I'll sell the Acoustimax, do something else with the EQ, and enjoy a little shot of Red-Eye.

I think you'll like it Charlie, I set mine up to be loud so I can pick lightly. I think it sounds better that way too. I can solo playing only slightly harder and should I need to I can step on the boost. I have wired in a mute switch in mine, but a tuner pedal in the effects will also mute for changing instruments.

Given where this thread has gone, I suggest the Baggs Venue DI. EQ, preamp, boost, tuner and cutout, and an XLR DI for monitors or the board. It also has an fx loop. The tuner isn't the fastest but otherwise it is a great piece of gear.

All of your pickups (apart from the magnetic soundhole one) are piezo's. That is what K&K's are. Piezo discs.

Impedance: this primarily affects the frequency response at the low end and the voltages produced. For mandolin, fiddle, guitar etc., you do not need (or want) enhanced LF response, so a 1M or thereabouts input impedance is preferable. On a string bass, you do, so here you may find better results on the 5M and up side...

Generally speaking. keep your signal chain as simple, clean and direct as possible.

This explains a lot. I have a K&K pickup with a 5Mohm stagebug PZ (Radial). LOVE the sound even though K&K recommends 500K to 1M for input impedance.
