    Default H. Bruun Mandolin

In honor of Veterans day I had the day off from work and my daughter had the day from school. So we took a drive up to Dusty Strings (Fremont, WA) to look at some Mandolins! They have a nice selection of quality instruments there and it's one of my favorite shops.

I played a couple Webers, a Northfield (nice), a Collings, an Eastman or two and some vintage Gibsons. They have it all! But my favorite was an A5 "H. Bruun". I was blown away by its tone and playability. It was bright yet woody. Really neat. I had never heard of the builder and inquired an employee about it. He said that it was from a local builder from Lynnwood, WA. who has only built a couple mandolins. This one was incredible.

My dream is to one day visit Dusty Strings and leave with that beauty!

If it sounds as good as it looks, it could be a bargain. I'm not a huge fan of gold hardware (nothing against it either) but that set of tuners looks really classy from the back side of the peghead. It's funny how a detail like that can grab you.

I played that one last time I was in Seattle. It is very nice. I think it is a great sounding mandolin, and a beauty too!

The tuners and peg head inlay really go together nicely. Sharp.

It's sounded great to me! Definitely a ton of mando per dollar on this one. Does anyone here want to load me $1500? 😉
