Default Collings MF5 V Torch and Wire

Collings sent out an email blast with information about a new MF5 V Torch and Wire. And why not on a Friday start out the weekend with a bit of eye candy? More information about it on their web site.

I have always loved the torch and wire inlay, and this is truely a visually stunning instrument!

If it sounds half as good as it looks someone is going to be a very lucky owner

I haven't spent much time digging through the archives of such a peghead design, but I must say the omission of the builders name in the headstock is super classy. What a gorgeous instrument!

What a Great tribute to the Gibson's of over 100 years ago! Truly one of the best mandolin peg head inlays to grace a mandolin. Recently under Master David Harvey who has a taste for vintage Gibson's and makes the new, Gibson has produced a few F-5's with the torch and wire they are stunning!

Perfection! Anyone know where they will be for sale? Or are they already spoken for?

I can't recall- isn't it true that this was only originally on F-4's? Bucket list to see it on a '5. you say Harvey's done some recent F-5's with Torch & Wire?

I still love the 'Torch & Wire' inlay pattern, but for me,it's a tad 'fussy'. I prefer the Gibson 'Fern' inlay. Re. headstock inlays,i've come around to thinking that for me (again), 'less is more' - but lovely workmanship nevertheless !,

Yes on the old F-4's for only a few years, I don't believe the pre 1910 F-3 had that inlay? But yes David has made some limited edition F-5's that have the great inlay work, Look on reverb and there is 3 across the big pond also Dennis Vance had some at one point "The Mandolin Store"
