Default (NMC) The Populele: for when learning uke is too hard

    https://techcrunch.com/2017/10/17/th...devils-guitar/

Some kind of new-fangled ukulele that has LED lights in the fretboard to show you where to put your fingers, and comes with a phone app. I guess learning the ukulele the old-fashioned way was too hard for some folks, and they needed this aid.

We keep wondering how all this new technology is going to affect musical instruments. I guess this is the direction it's headed.
Keep that skillet good and greasy all the time!

Guitars with light-up fretboards have been around for a while, pianos with lightup keys too. Once you get up to a certain speed though it seems it would be easier to rely on muscle memory than to follow the blinking lights.

It'll take just as much time to change chords following lights as looking at a fingering chart. Doesn't look like a very good uke. It's a novelty.

I had one of those when I was a kid. I took it off and figured out where to put my fingers.

    The light-up fretboard is cute.

Too bad there isn't some tech way of lighting the actual strings for the strumming hand, to help people learn to play single-string stuff once in a while instead of just strumming everything.
