    sorry to say I like this cheap little inexpensive mandolin. I like the feel of the neck & the way it resonates. can any one out there tell me what kind of wood it's made out of & what year it was made. here is the serial # 07030015. I bought it in 2007 from Sullivan banjo company aka fqms.

    Made in March 2007. The leading 2 digits of the serial number indicate the year, next 2 the month. A picture would help, but I think at that time they were made with solid carved spruce top & solid carved sycamore back and sides.
    Is it one of the polished black models like this one?

    trust me my friend my playing is not that good. but this little mandolin does not sound bad to me for what it is. too bad we live so far apart, I would stop over & let you try it. take care Tony & thanks for your help.
