    Thanks, that article was interesting. It and another that was linked in it (http://www.history.com/news/how-a-ph...oled-the-world) gives a lot of insight on Maelzel. I still use a Maelzel pyramid metronome. His chess robot was famous worldwide nearly 200 years ago, Benjamin Franklin played against it in France, Napolean Bonaparte played against it. In America, Edgar Allan Poe was one of those who could not be fooled, and claimed that a human hid inside the robot!

    The metronome article was interesting, but to me the article on Maelzel's chess master robot was even more interesting.

    I wonder what Beethoven would have made of the soundbrenner metrome. It vibrates time against your body.
