Default Does Anyone Recognize This Trademark?

I picked up an old banjo ukulele with no identifying marks except a rather slim looking 5-pointed star and a penciled-in "S" or "5"(?) on the inside face of the neck heel. Does anyone here recognize the mark? I was thinking Slingerland or Regal. It's all birdseye maple except for a dyed pearwood fretboard and peghead overlay. It has a pretty beefy steel tone ring that simply sits on top of the rim. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I doubt whether it's a trademark -why put it there? I think it just marks the centre of the neck for some constructional reason. Is it an "S" or a "5"?

The birdseye maple rim is a very good indication that it's a Slingerland instrument.

Ray, Thanks for the reply. That's a point I hadn't considered. The mark is right in the center. I think the pencil mark looks more like a 5.

    Noah,
Thanks for the reply. I was leaning toward Slingerland too. By the way, I took a look at your OldFrets website. That's a beautiful piece of work you have going there.
