Does anyone know what kind of instrument this is? It's a ten string and has a crisp, brilliant sound.
    Nice playing.

Thanks Bill! Yes, it´s a 10-string mandolin that I use. I have normal mandolin tuning plus D-strings (not C-string) down below the G-strings. A Finnish luthier Arto Pulkkinen built this one for me 15 years ago.

I note that several of the pieces have Swedish titles, including one of your own (långt borta, far away). Is there a distinct Swedish tradition in the folk music of your province?

    Very good playing, nice groove.

Yes, you're right Ralph. Actually the west coast and the south coast of Finland both have been mostly Swedish speaking areas. The influences between Sweden and Finland have been strong within folk music. I don't have myself Swedish as a mother language, but I love to speak it Thank you for your interest! Do you have grand-mothers or grand-fathers from Nordic Countries?

This is such great stuff. Comments from my non musical friends:

"Wow, that's a mandolin? Usually they are so ... you know..."

    Great job.

Yes, Eric! Worldwide distribution (iTunes, Amazon, Google Music etc.). But no physical album this time, sorry. Thanks for asking!
