Something funny there, yesterday the bidding was at £750, now it's £2!
The auctioneers estimates are often wildly off for mandolins of note, I am just surprised it's not at the usual £40 - £60.

Wot no catchphrase?
It'll go for what it goes for! Auctioneers usually go with a low estimate to get people interested. The current bid, whatever it is, is largely irrelevant and akin to asking the auctioneer to bid for you. It will likely go to someone bidding live, on line, or in person.
At least we now know one person who's watching it ; it's a long way from those of us "up north".
It's more out of interest, I haven't really bonded with my Flatiron so maybe A5s aren't for me.

You're in as good a place as anyone to have a look at this one and, assuming it goes for a reasonable price, you might be able to trade it for something you can bond with.
It'd be interesting to know who is selling it; they're not that common this side of the pond.
Just be prepared to pay another (roughly) 35% on top of the sale price in the so-called "buyer's premium" and other charges...
The 'estimate' will bear no relation to reality. These auctions tend to be followed by lots of 'wheeler-dealers' who know the value of everything....

Yes, it's an auction. If you go along to bid in person it'll be 31.2% and if you bid on line you can add a further 3% to that. If I were interested in it, I'd go along but I'm not prepared to spend a couple of hundred £ on the train fare on the off chance I might get a bargain.
Shouldn't that be the price of everything and the value of nothing? The interweb has made it both easier and harder to buy things!
It went for 1800 pounds. I was outbid. Oh well.
There's no guarantee that you'd have got it if you'd bid more. Thanks for telling us what it went for. £2361 doesn't sound a bad price for an Ellis. Did anyone here get it?
