Washington has Bill Monroe's sideburns from the 70's! Who knew? All George needs is a cowboy hat!
Is there a scroll somewhere?
After staring for about a minute (I'm ADD all the way), I eagerly await the answer..

A head stock in the "1" in the upper right hand corner is my guess.

Secretary of Treasury signed George B. Schultz. He was one of the first prominent Republicans to advocate legalizing marijuana, and a lot of mandolin players agree?

Dan, Were you looking for 76547? #Schultz. Ha!
Well done, Dan!
Well the E 665 is almost the frequency of the E course (should be 659 I think, but we all go a bit out of tune from time to time).

Bucketful of picks...still looking for the Magic one 🦄
It had to be the serial.

Despite the serial number being the "correct" answer, my vote goes to the upside-down instrument "headstock" outline formed around the large "1" in the upper right corner. I'd never noticed that! But this design would work best for a b*njo, I think, and not so much for a mandolin.
I think you have too much free time on your hands !
There are little scrolls on the upper sides of the pic, but the sideburns seems like a better answer.
Well-done, Dan
but don't ol' George's haircut look like Big Mon's as a young man? Plus, you could get a Loar for a dollar, at some poimt...
Sent a link to Dan and Darryl, they both spotted it right away. They think in serial numbers for Loars.

This should be donated to the CMHF and reside with Monroe's 73987. It had to be on purpose they did that number. But I'm more worried about your time being wasted on such trivia. Kinda like finding the face of Monroe on your morning piece of toast and posting a photo of it here with one bite taken out of his hat.

That was a good puzzle. I was looking for all kinds of things and missed that one entirely. I even put a dollar up against the screen for comparison.
