Just purchased a Shertler Dyn-M. So that can go right into a mixer or does it require a pre-amp? I am still pretty confused about how all this stuff works.
Thanks for any incite.

I run mine directly into the mixer all the time. You can pretty much just treat it as another mic.

Yes. Straight into the mic XLR. No other preamp required. All the EQ you need is in the channel EQ on the desk.

Sweet. Thanks
+1 on the straight into the XLR on the mixer. My results have always been great.

I use my Schertler with a Zoom A3. It has a mic input and gives you some extra EQ and effects to give a little bigger sound. It also has a boost function as well as a mute function for tuning. It's not the most intuitive interface, but once you get a couple things dialed in, it works just fine. Has an out for the board, and separate out if you have amp on stage too. I know most folks don't like Zoom, but this seems like a very solid box that's extremely quiet.
Maybe something to think about down the road.

Is there a more simple option to the a3 that has xlr in, a tuner mute, and boost?

Gracias seņor Don!
I swapped one mic cable end with a Nutrik with a ring switch, it mutes the pickup, that is plugged into that cable, which run to the Mixer.
