Found this lady while watching Vivaldi mandolin videos. I'm always amazed by the technique of classical players. This is a nice piece if you have about ten minutes to spare. Not the best audio.

Thanks, Caleb! That's my Suite for Ali, written for the unforgettable Alison Stephens. Elena gives a heartfelt, passionate reading of that score on this performance.
If anyone would like to have the score, it is available as a free download (along with all my works for solo mandolin) at this website, courtesy of our very own Jim Garber.
Three cheers for Elena!

Wow, I never expected to come across the composer of the piece when I posted. Pretty cool.

Haha... yeah, I'm a so called living composer. Nice to meet you, Caleb.
Cheers,

And thanks to you both. I can't wait to give this a try, but first I have to practice up some Munier for a gig. And, speaking of technique, this is what popped up next on my youtube list: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BdiHNaS3m8 Wow.
I worked up the last part, the gigue. I can make it bounce along rather delightfully, though not as fast as in the video.
I once played the gigue on electric mandolin for a barbeque in the park, with full heavy metal distortion. Crunchy fun.
You don't seem to find much information about these two Russian Mandolin Ladies Elena Zabavskaya and Ekaterina Mochalova.
The latter also plays the 3 string domra. And not too bad...
Her name looks like this in kyrillic characters: Екатерина Мочалова

You can find the most important facts about her here:

About Elena Zabavskaya, there is even less information on the internet.
Елена ЗАБАВСКАЯ
That was the only written information I could find:
http://www.balalaika-master.ru/festival/III/3_5_5.php
It seems, she also studied at the Gnesin-academy.
