I've played one my daughter's cellos like that from time to time. The whole fretless thing is a challenge for me.

Playing mandolins before I started in on fiddle I often put my bow down an pluck something so I am only thinking about one hand and not two. I even replaced my shoulder rest with one that would hang on when I did it because putting the other style rest back on each time it fell off while holding my fiddle like a mandolin broke my concentration and pi$$ed me off...I never have tried to play an entire song that way....
