Different mandocello tuning
I thought that the standard tuning of a mandocello is still CGDA.
Now I have seen from Thomann that they propose two types:
###- one with this mandocello chord G C D A and a tuning fork of 25.3 inches
###- one GDAE tuned with a 24 inches tuning fork
What do you think? Can we really talk about mandocello in both circumstance?
Besides, I could not find sting set of spare for the one with the GDAE tuning?
Do you know a reference for this string set?

Tuning fork? Don't you mean scale length?

I mean: the length between the bridge and the nut.

That is the definition of the scale length, yes.

poor excuse for anything
Re: Different mandocello tuning
Well one would simply be an octave mandolin, and the gauge of strings altered to fit that long a scale length. In Europe, many times what we refer to as a mandocello they refer to as an octave. The only time this becomes an issue is the first time you buy Thomastik Infeld strings. You get the right ones for the mandocello, but they refer to them as octave mandolin.

OK, thank you for your answer.
If I understand correctly, the real mandocello is the in tune CGDA?
If so, it sounds a fifth below the octave mandolin (GDAE)?
