    Default Favorite Celtic folk songs

    Hey all!

I've been performing at a lot of Renaissance faires, pirate festivals and such lately. I often play Irish/Scottish/Welsh (sometimes English) folk songs and am always looking for interesting songs to add to my repertoire. I'd love to hear what some of your favorites are.

Looking specifically for songs rather than trad tunes. Whatcha got???

Not really celtic but in terms of songs that would sit well in those scenarios, I seem to be in a run of songs I got from Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll at the moment. Benjamin Bowmaneer, Rambleaway, The Cruel Mother & The Exmoor Ram are in the repertoire at the moment.(from A Handful Of Sky)
I also do Sinking In The Lonesome Sea which I got from Caleb Klauder & Reeb Willms

My band performs at our local Renaissance Festival and perfom a mixture of Celtic and other folk songs that have been well received. They include Galway Piper, Rattlin Bog, Molly Bon, The Fox, Raggle Taggle Gypsy, Parting Glass, The Cat, Molly Malone, Caledonia, Ready for the Storm, Wild Mountain Thyme, Greensleeves, Scarborough Fair, McNally's Row of Flats, Lea Rig, and Drowned Lover. We arrange them so they suit the sound of the festival.

Thanks Beanzy! Benjamin Bowmaneer is a great one. I might try it with the pace and energy picked up a bit... Thanks!

This is a great list of songs! Thanks for your input everyone! Many of these are also in my set list abut there are a number of them that I'll have to look up. I'm sure I'll come up with a few less common songs to incorporate... Thanks again!
