Default Doyle Lawson mic for his mandolin?

Just saw Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver and was really impressed with the way his mandolin sounded thru the PA. He mentioned it was a new DL Gibson mandolin and it did look brand spankin' new. He also said it had a microphone and pointed to a wire going into the f hole and I assume the mic was mounted and/or was positioned inside? Anyone know specifics of his setup? Thanks

I just saw a picture of him and the Doyle Gibson and noticed the wire going into the lower FHole with a mount for the wire just outside on the top. I can't make out what mic that is, and wonder what model. They were using in ear, so feedback wouldn't really be an issue but it did look like the mic was inside the mandolin.

You can use any small lav (lapel-clip) mic in that role, however, you will encounter a lot of body resonance and usually end up having to do some fairly heavy-duty EQ to flatten it out....
