Thread: Canto de Ossanha

    Default Canto de Ossanha

For some odd reason, I got me an earworm of a recording of a Baden Powell bossa tune "Canto de Ossanha" from an LP by the great alto sax jazz man Phil Woods, one I bought and played (a lot) back then (long-lost). Great tune, and Phil Woods' cover of it had a really exciting drive and groove. (Why I got that earworm now, after not having played that record for 35 years--beats me! I guess great music is like that.)

Any-hoozle, I found sheet music for it, in a couple of different keys (Cm and Am). Does anyone know of a recording anywhere of the tune on mando, or a mando ensemble? There are plenty with classical/Brazilian guitar, but I wonder if it's been done on mando.

    A-Flippin'-Mazing! WOW!!

Hamilton de Holanda. He plays it on bandolin, and absolutely kills it.

    Mandolin? Couldn't find anything yet.
