Default Marshall As50D vs Fishman Loudbox Mini

I am playing in a Praise Band in a small to medium sized church. The band is electric drums, electric bass (separate amp), acoustic guitar (separate amp), electric acoustic guitar (board), keyboard (board) and vocals (board). I am playing a Collins MT2-O with a Fishman Bridge pickup. Would you guys recommend a Fishman Loudbox Mini 60 watt 6.5" speaker, or Marshall AS50D 50 watt 2x8" speakers?

I've owned both, and they are both decent amps. The Marshall is a very old design, and lacks some of the features on the Fishman. The Fishman is lighter and smaller. Overall, Fishman for me.

Fishman Loudbox is the most natural sounding amp for mandolin I have every tried. Love mine. Light, loud, plenty of features and built very well.

Can't go wrong with this amp.

Just curious why you wouldn't get a DI or preamp and join the rest of the band through the board? Less to haul around.

Given you have a Piezo Fishman pickup, best impedance handshake would be with the Fishman Amp.

but yea, Baggs Preamp /DI combination would have outputs at line and Mic level.

I use a preamp and go thru the board. It sounds good and I don't need to carry the amp around. I can understand if you want your own monitor, separate from the band monitors, so you have better control of what you hear.

I have owned both and played them both in church-- house with 250 seats. The Fishman LB mini is far more efficient and projects authentic acoustic tone and volume. The Marshall is fine, great quality, though disappointing in output for such a heavy amp-- but not nearly as good on the clarity and highs. The Fishman is also a better portable PA. I played solo concerts with both-- the Fishman LB mini is excellent in that use, as well...

I am really glad I posted this thread. All of the people that I asked opinions from, none mandolin people, suggested the Marshall, even two dealers that I talked to. Thank you all for the information as I was all ready to pull the trigger with the Marshall. I will now be ordering the Fishman. I do have a K & K 9 volt preamp for the board, so having the amp provides options especially when the board gets overloaded or when we play at small festivals where the sound system can be iffy. Thanks again.

I've been playin a Godin A8 through the 60 watt loudbox for about 2 years and really like it plenty loud with a full band of rockers. I tried a Fender & a Roland & thought the LB had the best "acoustic" sound.

I use the Fishman. I send the amp's DI to the board and use the amp as a monitor. Works great.

After a bit of reevaluation, I upgraded to the Fishman Loudbox 120, to allow two instrument intakes and controls. The Mini allows instrument and microphone input. Thanks again for all your input.

The 120 is excellent. I'm sure you'll enjoy using that. One of the nicest acoustic amps out there right now.
