Yes there were a bunch of these mostly known as the "banjolin" but not sure of the make in the singular photo?

Isn't a banjolin like mandolin-banjo but with four strings? A resonator banjo has a steel resonator on its soundboard.

    Or am I wrong?

    Sam bush plays a resonator.

Right on. I just didn't know if it was some rare obscure type banjolin-there were thousands of those things made by different makers just in the 20's-30's?

The picture is not clear. I THINK it's a resonator, but I wouldn't swear to it.

I think it is a resonator as well. Metal, no skin head.

Looks something like a Dobro Tenortrope, but with a mandolin neck rather than a tenor banjo neck. Hard to tell from the pic.

What's the name of the band pictured? Googling on the band name might generate more info, better pics; who knows?

The body of this mandolin is similar to that of the photo.

I agree with Jeff, it's a metal top from what I can tell from the picture.

Look how big that body is, compared to the size of the neck. It's as big as the banjo. I think Allen might have it, a Tenortrope body with a retrofitted Dobro mandolin neck.
