Today is my birthday. As a present to myself, I am learning a new tune: "The Bonniest Lass in a' the World."

Ha, ha! keep time: how sour sweet music is,
When time is broke and no proportion kept!
--William Shakespeare
Happy Birthday!
Current Caledonians I've been working on, are the pairing of Bog an Lochan (4-part strathspey) with Prince Charlie (reel), which get played together in Scottish-oriented sessions around here.
Both are from somewhere in the 18th Century, but the versions I have are probably more modern Cape Breton settings. Like the E flats in the Prince Charlie setting I have (Natalie MacMaster version), which was probably written on the pipes and then the fiddlers decided to mess with it.

Jack, I would know that one as "I'll Gang nae Mair to Yon Town"
I must admit that I can't make much from these tunes although I rather like the title of "She's Sweetest When She's Naked"

Actually I think I do say 'Your toon'.
It's a tune which I play in A for the Gay Gordons sometimes.
