Default String gauge for vintage National tenor

My 1932 National tenor is currently strung as an octave mandolin, but it really sings when capo'd up a bit, so I'd like to try standard CDGA tuning.

What string gauge should I be looking for? I want to be careful, since I know there's no reinforcement in the neck.

It is difficult to get a low tension A on a 23" scale but the other strings can be of a lower tension than I would normally recommend.
    .10 .13 .20w .28w might work ok...
However, if your guitar has survived all these years you are probably safe to use .10 .14 .22w .30w
