    Default Octave on the way

Long time since I have posted, but after being so happy with my Eastman 615 for the last 10 years I finally submitted to MAS and ordered an Octave Mandolin from Kieran Moloney in Ireland. Got one of the APC M305 cedar tops and the factory case. The wait is killing me, even though its only been 4 days. Hoping the switching back and forth of the different scale lengths is a painless.

    Congrats on entering CBOM world!

Switching back and forth on the different scale lengths won't be painless, or at least it wasn't for me. There may be some fingering issues. You may find yourself choosing different music to play on the different instruments, like I did. But we all adapt in our different ways.

It's a bit like Alice in Wonderland, in that bit where she's changing sizes. The entire perspective shifts, but Alice remains the same. That's you, with your mandolin knowledge, regardless of how perspectives shift around you.

Isn't Kieran a delight to work with? Congrats on your new OM.
