Default Four Short Pieces by Frank Bridge

Frank Bridge (26 February 1879 – 10 January 1941) was an English composer, violist and conductor.
He studied at the Royal College of Music, played in several string quartets, occasionally deputised for the conductor, Charles Wood (Promenade Concerts) and was, notably, tutor to BenjaminBritten, who greatly admired him.

This set of 4 short pieces for violin (here played on mandolin) and piano comprise

    1 Meditation

    4 Country Dance

For the violinist/mandolinist the standard ranges from Good Beginner to Intermediate.

The full score, separate violin score (as available on the IMSLP site) and the piano accompaniments as mp3 files to play along with can be downloaded from my website at

    Frank Bridge (1879-1941): Four Short Pieces, H. 104 (1911)
    I. Meditation - 0:00
    II. Spring Song - 2:30
    III. Lullaby - 4:22

A bit late, but I have now tried my hands on this one. These are all really nice pieces, well suited to the mandolin. Here are my recordings of the first three pieces, played on my 1890 Umberto Ceccherini to Andy's piano accompaniment.

I have not recorded the fourth and final piece, "Country Dance", as I haven't yet managed to play it.
