Brilliant . . . he just needs to lose the outfit . . . .
Awesome. I've been a Puddles fan for a year or two, as well as the whole Post Modern Jukebox gang. Just great stuff.

That 'Day After Day' performance caught my attention -
I have always loved solo performers who play electric guitars instead of acoustics - and there just don't seem to be enough of them around. Somehow it seems that people are always under the impression that playing solo means playing an acoustic guitar - but find an electric guitar with a nice full tone, and solo/electric works great!
Many years ago I used to do a solo act that mixed acoustic and electric songs - until one day a writer from a local newspaper saw me playing an acoustic guitar and called me a 'folk singer' . . . I immediately retired the acoustic guitar from live performances and went strictly electric. Put me in front of a microphone with a nice Rickenbacker or a good Les Paul, and I'm a happy live solo performer.
This will give me nightmares. Thanks....
That was awesome. Made my day!

I guess you would have to like electric music. As a kid I used to listen to Chet Atkins play that big electric guitar and think that was something, years later I heard Doc Watson and all thoughts of Chet left. In later years Chet played acoustic and I liked it so much better. I can't get into electric, acoustic just has so much more depth and complexity.
Absolutely love the whole package. Brilliant performance art.

Actually, I think the clown outfit is a take on the Italian opera "Pagliacci" by Ruggero Leoncavallo.

The music was excellent, and he has an exceptional voice. I don't understand why he feels the need to ruin it all with that horrid, creepy, ridiculous costume. It really detracts from my desire to watch any more of his videos. Is there some special significance or meaning behind his wearing of it?
Keep that skillet good and greasy all the time!
He's got talent and I like the clown costume. It fits with his style and performance.

Man, I must be missing something. The mashup video of Folsom Prison Blues and the Pinball Wizard was, musically speaking, very authentically done in Johnny Cash style. And all he did was stand there and sing (aside from the silly fake guitar thing). How exactly does the clown costume fit with this?
Maybe I've just been tainted with equating clown costumes to crazy stuff like Insane Clown Posse or Mr. Bungle (remember that, LOL?). But to me, the clown thing seems like just about the most absurdly off-the-wall costume a person could put on, and one would expect lots of other absurdity in the performance. But his performance seemed fairly tame, and I kept wondering what the clown outfit had to do with anything, precisely because it didn't fit in with anything. It's obviously just a schtick of some sort, but I can't figure out what he's thinking it adds to his obviously great musical ability.
Maybe I'm just a fuddy-duddy. But it makes me think less of him as a serious musician/performer if he feels the need to resort to such absurdity just to get people to pay attention to him.

I get it, and like it, and I'm an old fart.

Clicked on the first link, then immediately closed it when I saw the clown. Dude, ya gotta warn people about stuff like that!!

I think the clown costume is part of his genius. You snicker at first because you think it's supposed to be funny. Then you hear him sing...
Btw he does have a whole act. You just saw the musical part.

I guess I equate him with Canio from Pagliacci. The weeping clown. Puddles does all his songs kind of sad. I've not seen the rest of his act. That's it. I'm 48 is that old anymore? It doesn't feel old.
