Default Tail piece for Five String?

I'm having a custom 5 string flat-top A/N made and am sourcing a few parts.

Does anyone know what might work for this project? I'll be using guitar flatwound strings (ball end and not loops)

I was thinking a tail piece like this might work.

    1) Allen has a 10 string cast TP you can leave 5 empty. (?)

2)Try A modified No Knot banjo tailpiece? 5 pins 4 gaps between them

6 pins will trap 5 balls in the gaps..

Hire something fabricated/ machined? surely there is someone in that city to do that..

The banjo tail piece idea sounds interesting.

I just don't know if the ball ends would fit on this type of design.

Oh also with a guitar tail piece it would be easier to just leave out one string.

The banjo tailpiece you showed won't work with ball end strings. You could cut a slit where the loops attach and let the string go thru the slit and the ball would be held in place.

Great idea! That's the way I'll be going.

I made mine from the unslotted leftovers of the fret board and some string-through-body ferrules. Not entirely pleased with the design, but I think the concept is good.

I'm Using ball end strings on my 'No Knot' tail piece , on my 4 string electric mandolin.

the 4 spaces between the 5 pins are narrower, than the width of a guitar string's ball ends..

    its not theoretical .. http://www.emando.com/images/builders/Biller_small.jpg
